It’s been awhile since I’ve updated on my five-minute project. I’ve continued to organize for five minutes a day (ok, maybe I’ve missed a day or two), and I’m making progress.
I’ve completely emptied two drawers so far. It took several days, working on it for only 5 minutes at a time, but it didn’t seem like work or an overwhelming project at all. I actually had three of these full-of-crap drawers in my kitchen. I got sick of working on drawers and I have the attention span of a gnat so I’ll get back to the third one later.
I moved on to a cabinet (is it cabinet or cupboard? Are those words interchangeable?? hmm…). This cabinet/cupboard is the kitchen medicine cabinet and catch-all. It’s been AGES since I’ve purged old meds so I was pretty curious about what I would find.
The only surprise was that I actually have about a year’s worth of Frontline tick stuff for my three cats. My take-away here is that maybe I should actually put the stuff on the cats when I buy it. I bet it works better that way. Also? Found a prescription that expired in 2009. I did have to use a box for this project. Unlike the drawers, where I threw the majority of the crap away and want to use the drawers for something else, I am still going to use this cabinet for medicines. I put everything that was to go back into the cupboard into the box. Then onto the other side.
This side didn’t have any surprises other than a ton of meds and vitamins that hit the trash! It’s so gratifying! This is where we’re at now:
I’ll keep trudging along….five minutes a day. Granted, not all projects are going to be able to be broken down into five minute chunks, but this will certainly get me to a point where organizing projects aren’t so damn overwhelming.
