Total weight lost on Optavia: 12.5 pounds!
Day 12 on plan: Weight 206.0 I knew the scale would slow down, and I’m still working on patience. I’m learning to only expect to lose 2 pounds a week. Anything more than that is a bonus. I was home all day, and it was the roughest day yet. I was craving all the things. It was hard to make it to two hours between fuelings. Lean and Green was lean hamburger with roasted zucchini and red peppers. The roasted veggies were so frickin’ good! I felt much better after the Lean and Green.
Day 13 on plan: Big challenge today! We took the oldest man-boy out for his 20th birthday. I checked out the menu beforehand and chose a yummy-sounding, almost-on-plan Maple Chicken Salad. Was really hard to not eat the combo platter appetizer my family ordered — but as I sat there drinking my water I realized I really don’t like most of what’s on the platter anyway. I would’ve eaten it because it’s there. My salad was fan-frickin-tastic and so something I never would’ve ordered before. I’ve never felt like a salad-as-a-meal filled me up. This time, I was full the rest of the day and had to set an alarm on my phone so I would remember to eat my fuelings. It was really a great lesson though — one I hope to repeat and learn as a new habit — a restaurant meal does not have to throw me off the rails of healthy eating.
Day 14 on plan: I’ve been kinda hungry today. I was home from work early, and it threw my whole vibe off. Maybe I should try splitting the Lean and Green into two meals on the days that I’m home. Lord knows there’s enough food allowed for that meal.
I also made muffins for the teenagers. I did take one taste of the batter but in the past I would have licked the entire bowl. I made myself a quarter-size muffin so I could taste since it’s a new recipe and I did not add the chocolate chunks to the top of mine like I did for the teenagers. They were banana oatmeal muffins and not impressive. Also, in the past I would’ve eaten about four of the muffins. Or maybe five. Even though they weren’t all that tasty. Definitely learning that I am an “eat it because it’s there” eater.
Day 15 on plan: Weight 204.0! Wow I like that number!
Today is Tuesday and my official weigh-in day with my coach. Now that I’ve been on plan for a couple of weeks, my coach will check in with me once a week on Tuesday. She’s always available to answer questions via text though…like when I bought riced cauliflower last week and had no clue what to do with it! I’ve lost a total of 11.5 pounds on plan so far so today I lifted a 12 lb bag of dog food as a reference point. Wow. I was carrying all that around all the time!
Day 16 on plan: Stupid gas station that smelled like pizza on one end and doughnuts on the other! I bought my water and tried to not breathe! Lean and green was chicken and roasted veggies. I’ll have to find another veggie to add to the mix soon.
Day 17 on plan: I was home today. Cravings were bad! The girl had friends here for lunch, and they had Little Caesar’s pizza. I had a teeny bit off the end of one bread stick. I couldn’t resist. It wasn’t even a full bite. I seriously considered spitting it out after I had a taste of it, but that felt a little eating disordery. I did have my Lean and Green early in the day, and that helped tremendously. In fact, in the evening I totally forgot to have one of my fuelings! Note to self: set alarm on phone for fueling reminder!
Day 18 on plan: Weight 203.0
Big, big challenge today. Shopping trip with my BFF. We call these margarita lunches because we normally shop a little and lunch a lot — with several margaritas. I considered straying from plan but decided I don’t want to. I considered staying on plan but allowing myself one margarita. I’m still on the fence about that. I did look at menus and chose a different restaurant than our usual hangout that had more vegetable options that I will eat so I can get a substantial Lean and Green that I think I’ll enjoy. I’m going into it confident that I’ll be happy with my choices at the end of the day.
End of day update: Well, not exactly overjoyed with my choice to have a margarita at lunch, but I definitely learned a couple things. First of all, I really didn’t get much of a buzz from it. Secondly, it gave me a monstrous headache! I suppose that’s because I don’t have many toxins in my system so it affected me differently than I’m used to. All in all, not really all that enjoyable to have a cocktail, so why bother in the future? I had a sirloin and roasted vegetables for my Lean and Green, and that was so tasty!
I shopped for clothes today…it was slightly easier than usual. Not super fun yet, but a tad bit less painful than usual! I hate buying clothes right now when I won’t be able to wear them for long, but I have an event next week that needs something new.
So I made it through a shopping trip with my BFF that’s typically a day full of indulgence without falling completely off-plan. Yes, the indulgence is fun but the time spent with one of my favorite people is the best part…and that doesn’t need food or drink to be awesome!
Eighteen days on plan. Wow. In hindsight it goes pretty fast. When looking ahead with the knowledge that I will be in phase 1 of the plan for about six months, it seems so very far away. Going forward I need to get control of these cravings and improve my Lean and Green variety. Maybe I’ll try spaghetti squash next.
